Kennedy was born in Burma and educated in India and England. In 1980 he opened a studio in Palm Springs. The unique form of his work is reflective of the tall, slim, and graceful natives of northern Burma that he watched as a boy. His works have sold in Europe and America and are included in many private collections.

John Kennedy, was known for his elegant and lyrical sculptures of the human figure. He has been awarded many commissions including the sculpture honoring Audrey Hepburn at the United Nations building in New York City.
