Stacy DeVorzon, daughter of art dealer Barbara DeVorzon showed off her cooking skills in Manosque, France on September 14, 2009 for the M6 television show Une Diner Presque Parfait: Le Combat des Regions. This battle of the regions brought the winners of last years Une Diner Presque Parfait together for the an ultimate cook-off and a 10,000 Euro prize to the champion. For her unforgettable evening, she installed a yurt in a field where dinner was served. A Beverly Hills, CA native, Stacy "carried" the guests through the flavors of the world: foie gras lollipops, egyptian dukkah, ceviche, and for desert strawberries with mascarpone. To top of the evening Stacy had two hot air balloons to take guests up where they got to see an extraordinary view French countryside at sunset. Stacy made California proud by showing the French she is not full of hot air and knows how to entertain in grand style!

NEW YORK (AP) ? A rarely seen portrait of Michael Jackson is on display inside a New York City showroom that sells luxury cars to celebrities. Owner Marty Abrams says an oil painting titled "The Book" is the only portrait Jackson sat for because he was friends with Australian painter Brett-Livingstone Strong. The painting shows Jackson sitting in Renaissance-era clothes and holding a book. This statement is not entirely true, because Strong did a second portrait of Michael in 1994 at Jackson's Neverland Ranch. The 40-inch-by-50-inch portrait was sold for $2.1 million in 1990. Abrams says he acquired it in 1992 and had it stored. The painting was unveiled at the Dancy-Power Automotive Group showroom in Harlem on Thursday. Abrams says he chose the showroom because it's near the Apollo Theater, where the Jackson 5 won Amateur Night in 1967. The showroom features Rolls-Royces, Ferraris and other pricey cars. In the Forbes article from last fall, dead celebrities like Elvis Presley, Heath Ledger and Charles M. Schultz seem to still be earning quite nice pay checks, well their estates at least. What is even more interesting is that Andy Warhol is the Number 8 top earning dead celebrity and Marilyn Monroe is Number 9. Monroe is the iconic image that Warhol used for a set of ten screenprints that just sold at Sotheby's for over a $1,000,000. These prints are found in Andy Warhol's Catalogue Raisonne, which of course adds to their value and sustainability in the art market. Even in these times art is holding value. This is the record breaking Yves Saint Laurent art auction in Paris could be summed up as "Riches from Rags". The bidders brought in $261 million for a collection that showed the couturier had an eye for fine art that rivaled his infallible instinct for fashion. During this "sale of the century," a Henri Matisse vase went for $40.6 million, the highest amount paid for any of the French artist's work, but a Pablo Picasso piece from the cubist period, considered the most valuable piece went unsold. Over his lifetime Laurent collected 733 pieces. Isn't it wonderful that Laurent's partner, Pierre Berge will donate most of the profits to HIV/AIDS research? Berge quoted the writer Edmond de Goncourt's sentiment that he did not want art ending up in "the cold tomb of a museum." Other big-ticket items bought included a Piet Mondrian painting, "Composition With Blue, Red, Yellow and Black," went for $24 million, and a sculpture by the Romanian Constantin Brancusi, a work titled "Madame L.R." dating between 1914 and 1917, sold for a record $36 million.
